Mood: waiting for wind

Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay Wind Direction: SW - W - WNW Wind Stength: 20mph gusty Surf / Sea State: flat, some chop Air Temperature: ok Sea Temperature: ok Weather: sunny, some cloud, gusty wind Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Couldn't get away as early as hoped so just headed down to see Mark and
Francis and Ian and a couple of others who had opted for Pevensey Bay.
Would have gone to Posh beach but Paul had texted me to say the road from
Pev to Posh was closed and he was going to Spray. Thought about Spray but
van was on autopilot for Pevensey ;-)
Got there to see Mark on his 5.8m & 90ltr RRD, but his 105 was looking
ominous on the beach.
No brainer for me, had new toys to try and looked vaguely suitable
conditions .... so rigged the 5.9m Duke and Hawk 123Ltd (admittedly I put
in a 30cm fin to try) and prepared for maiden voyage.
Usual Pevensey in this direction, gusty, not much on inside, wind switching
direction, streaky bacon gusts further out, then out the back direction
sorts itself out and proper wind. Not the best location choice for today,
but ideal to test the board that I picked out to deal with such
conditions.
Couple of runs, then in to tinker with outhaul. Few more runs then decided
to try the std 38cm fin just to see how it felt. Got worse on the inside so
had bit of an 'offshore' session (on my own) as Mark & Francis and the
others decided to pack up.
I'd missed the best of it, but still scored enough TOW to feel confident
that the Hawk will work nicely in the Pevensey splash & dash, bump & blast
role .... and it didn't feel too big to use with the 5.9m, even when I
stuck the 38cm fin in it. I think it'll be just right with 6.4m & 7.3m
nicely powered up .....
Happy daze :-)
